Samonatura consists of 5 houses with a swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi on a mountain with beautiful views over the ocean.
Samonatura is located in the province of Alentejo, a two-hour drive from Lisbon airport and Faro.
This is a naturist resort run by the Dutch couple Martine & Jos. This naturist resort is located on a mountain, which gives you very nice views over the valley and the ocean. The nearest nudist beach is about half an hour away.
Samonatura is situated against a mountainside in the beautiful province of Alentejo, Portugal. Because it is higher you have a beautiful view over the valley and the Atlantic Ocean. The mountainside is called Samouqueirinha and that’s where the name Samonatura comes from, because it is a naturist resort. It is located between Vila Nova de Milfontes and the village of São Luis, about 7 km from the Atlantic Ocean. The site is 9 hectares, of which 5 hectares are pine trees and the rest is unspoilt nature with beautiful rocks. This accommodation is less suitable for people with reduced mobility.
Samonatura is also open in winter on request. Ask us about the possibilities.
Samonatura has 5 accommodations: Casa Lua Nova (new moon) for 4-8 people, with attached Casa Arco-Íris (rainbow) for 2-6 people, Casa Pôr-do-Sol (sunset), a luxury stay for 2 people , Casa Rio Mira (river view) for 2 persons with its own character and beautiful view and Casa do Mar (sea house) for 2 persons with underfloor heating. All accommodations include SAT TV with Dutch channels, free WIFI, bed linen, towels, large beach towels and bathrobes. A parasol and mats for the beach are also available. All beds in the houses are at least 2 meters long.
Casa Lua Nova / 4-8 people
This house was built in 2001, but has a rustic look. It is spacious, comfortable and attractively furnished. There is a living room with seating, wood stove, TV with satellite where Dutch channels can also be seen, radio-CD with USB connection, large fully equipped kitchen with oven, refrigerator with freezer, 5-burner gas stove, dining table with 8 chairs, coffee maker, kettle and toaster, bedroom with double bed and wardrobe, bathroom with shower, bath, toilet, sink and hair dryer, extra toilet, upstairs is a landing with sink and 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with 2 x Single bed. Terrace: patio chairs, dining table with 6 chairs, possibility of adding extra chairs, 2 comfortable sunbeds, with a view over the Atlantic Ocean. Washing machine and larger freezer for shared use.
Casa Lua Nova can be rented separately or together with Casa Arco-Íris. A double door connects the two houses, making them suitable as accommodation for 2 families or one group.
Casa Arco-Íris / 2-6 people
This house is adjacent to Casa Lua Nova, but has its own character. It has its own entrance and terrace and also has a nice attic with a double bed. The apartment is tastefully decorated and also has a beautiful view over the ocean. There is a living room with seating, wood stove, TV with satellite where Dutch channels can also be seen, radio-CD with USB connection, open kitchen fully equipped with refrigerator with freezer, 4-burner gas stove, dining table, coffee maker, kettle and toaster. . There is a bedroom with a double bed and a bedroom with 2 x single bed. The bathroom has a shower, toilet, sink and hair dryer. Terrace: patio chairs, dining table with 6 chairs, possibility to add extra chairs, 2 comfortable sunbeds, with, as said before, beautiful views over the Atlantic Ocean.
Casa Pôr-do-Sol / approximately 50m2 / 1-2 people
This house is also spacious and luxurious to stay in for up to 2 people. It has a spacious living room with sliding doors and sea views. In addition, a beautiful large terrace with luxurious sun loungers. The kitchen has an induction hob, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and is equipped with all kitchen utensils. The studio has a bedroom with a double bed and wardrobe. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower with sink and toilet.
Casa Rio Mira / approximately 36 m² / 1-2 persons
Casa Rio Mira is a wooden accommodation with a rustic appearance. Made of round beams with a diameter of 16 cm and with insulation in between. This ensures that the house stays nice and cool during hot days. It is a cozy, comfortable cottage with a bedroom with a double bed, living room with open kitchen with induction hob, extractor, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, fridge and microwave. The living room has a cozy sitting area. At the front of the house is a terrace with easy chairs from which you can enjoy the beautiful view and the wonderful tranquility. On the side a beautiful spacious terrace with sunbeds has been created where you can enjoy the sun and the view of the luxurious sunbeds with cushions, possibly under a large parasol, out of the wind.
Casa do Mar / 1-2 people
This cottage was only built in 2018 with its own character and has underfloor heating for when it is a bit cooler in the spring or autumn. It has a living room with a cozy seating area and an open kitchen that is fully equipped with a dining table, fridge freezer, induction hob, coffee maker, kettle, toaster. The bedroom has a double bed (160×210 cm) and a wardrobe, the bathroom has a shower, toilet, sink and hair dryer. Terrace: patio chairs, dining table with 2 chairs, 2 comfortable sunbeds, with a beautiful view over the Atlantic Ocean.

By car:
Samonatura is approximately 2326 km from Utrecht.
A car (or rental car) is a good way to travel around Portugal and useful if you want to visit slightly remote places. The roads in Portugal are of good quality. On the highways it is regularly indicated where the nearest petrol stations / restaurant, picnic areas are. Please note that you have to pay toll on the French, Spanish and Portuguese highways if you go with your own car. You can pay by credit card or cash at the toll gates.
Furthermore, you must be in possession of International Insurance Certificates or the green card if you are going with your own car.
A Dutch driving license is sufficient, so an international driving license is not necessary.
With the plane:
About 3 hours to Faro or Lisbon. We mediate for Transavia from Brussels, Belgium and several airports in the Netherlands.
We recommend renting a car to see more of the area. If you want to go to the beach, you definitely need a rental car. We mediate for Flexible Cars and Sunny Cars.

Portugal is a popular holiday destination for the Dutch, but not much is possible in terms of naturism. Samonatura is located in the southern Alentejo province of Portugal. The landscape of the Alentejo is very varied. The Atlantic Ocean is approximately 20 minutes’ drive away. We have visited Praia do Salto, a very beautiful nudist beach, which was about a 30 minute drive.
It is 1 hour earlier in Portugal than in the Netherlands.
Portuguese cuisine:
Portuguese cuisine is somewhat similar to Spanish cuisine. The most famous sweet dish from Portugal is Pastel de Belém, this is a kind of pastry with pudding and you really have to try it! Many fish and shellfish can be found in Portuguese cuisine.
Language:
The vast majority of the population speaks Portuguese, including several dialects. Portuguese is a Roman world language and outside of Portugal it is also spoken in Brazil, Angola, Guinea-Bissau, Sao Tomé and Principe, East Timor, Cape Verde, Mozambique, and other areas such as Goa and Malacca (Cristao). It is also spoken by a minority in Macau, where it is an official language.
Currency:
Portugal is part of the European Union and you can also pay here with the Euro.
Almost all cards for debit cards are accepted. Credit cards are also accepted.
Climate:
Into the summers Alentejo are hot and dry, while winters are wet but mild. Spring and autumn are rather pleasant, with moderate temperatures. It climate is nowhere else in Portugal as warm as in Alentejo . … However, the temperatures can rise much further, to more than 35 ° C.

We had a Grandiose vacation, The trip was perfectly arranged. Martine and Jos of Samonatura had a warm welcome and even decorated the cottage in Christmas spirit. Otherwise very helpful in everything. All in all, we had a wonderful stay. Really worth repeating and with such wonderful temperatures you do want to stay there longer.

It is a great location “on the mountain” as we called it. We were in the house Arco Iris, very spacious and well equipped. The hot tub, sauna, pool and the beautiful vegetation on the property completed the stay. The owners Martine and Jos make you feel very welcome and take care of this place with heart and soul. In the evening we could grab wood to cozy the fireplace. The village of Vila Nova de Milfontes is a few km away and is a pleasant starting point for a nice coastal walk. We will definitely go back there again!
