Vilapura is a small-scale Bed & Breakfast in the Algarve, Portugal. The rooms are tastefully decorated with design.
In the Algarve, just a 35-minute drive from Faro airport, Vilapura is located toward Spain.
This is a naturist B&B run by Portuguese couple Carlos and Filomena. It is a small-scale naturist resort where you can relax. The town of Tavira is only 6 kilometers from this complex and access to the famous Barril Beach is only 3 kilometers. Here there is a beautiful nude beach.
Vilapura is a cozy small-scale Bed & Breakfast that opened its doors to naturists in June 2018.
All rooms have a door leading outside to a terrace. Bedding includes sheets and towels, even a bath towel, and your room is cleaned daily. All bathrooms have shower, toilet, sink and hairdryer. There is 1 room with a bathtub and bidet.
A coffee maker and kettle are available in the lounge. You may use this throughout the day. There is no cooking facility, but you can order lunch and dinner.
Outside in the garden are sunbeds, beanbags you can lie on, umbrellas, a shower and a plunge pool. There are also sunbeds and an umbrella on the roof terrace. From here you can see the sea.

Vilapura is there for persons 16 and older, as it is small-scale and there is nothing for children to do. Being naked is mandatory in and around the pool, but the resort presents itself as Clothing-Optional, as naturism in Portugal is still in its infancy and they would like to give Portuguese people the opportunity to get acquainted with naturism as well.
We visited Vilapura for you and felt very much at home with Carlos and Filomena. They have an eye for detail and decorated the rooms with taste. The rooms are not large, but they are decorated in such a way that it is not noticeable. The family owns a ceramics factory, so many tasteful decorations can be found throughout the complex.

Just 3 kilometers away is the little train that will take you to Barril Beach. You can get here from Vila Pura by bike or by car. In the summer, we recommend biking as parking can be a problem. Praia do Barril is part of the protected nature reserve Parque Natural da Ria Formosa. Ria Formosa is a vast and swampy area. A small train takes you to the dunes and beach in about 8 minutes. You can also choose to walk up past it, which takes about 15 minutes. The little train currently costs €1.50 per person each way. Having arrived at the beach, you still need to walk about 15 minutes (1.5 kilometers) to get to the nude beach.
You can enjoy delicious food at several small restaurants/bars on Praia do Barril. From hamburger to Portuguese tapas.
By car:
Vilapura is approximately 2367 km from Utrecht.
A car (or rental car) is a good way to travel around Portugal and useful if you want to visit slightly remote places. The roads in Portugal are of good quality. On the highways it is regularly indicated where the nearest petrol stations / restaurant, picnic areas are. Please note that you have to pay toll on the French, Spanish and Portuguese highways if you go with your own car. You can pay by credit card or cash at the toll gates.
Furthermore, you must be in possession of International Insurance Certificates or the green card if you are going with your own car.
A Dutch driving license is sufficient, so an international driving license is not necessary.
With the plane:
Approximately 3 hours and 5 minutes to Faro. We mediate for Transavia from Amsterdam Schiphol, Eindhoven Airport, Rotterdam/The Hague and Brussels Airport.
We recommend renting a car to see more of the area. If you want to go to the beach, you definitely need a rental car. We mediate for Flexible Cars and Sunny Cars.
You can request information about the flight days and car rental from us.
Portugal is a popular holiday destination for the Dutch, but not much is possible in terms of naturism. Vilapura is located in the Algarve, which is the southernmost province of Portugal. The Algarve’s landscape is extremely varied. East of Faro are lagoons and miles of sandy beaches, including one of the most beautiful naturist beaches near Tavira, Barrilbeach and west of Faro the coast is dotted with rock formations and small beaches.
East of Faro, the coast is about 60 kilometers long and there are the well-known seaside resorts such as Olhão, Santa Luzia and Tavira, where tourism is very important, but not as developed as on the Spanish Costas. You will find almost no high-rise buildings here. Many towns also have a beautiful old town and Tavira is also very cozy. The Algarve’s hilly interior lies just behind the coast and is still virtually untouched. The highest point in the Algarve is the Fóia at 902 meters. The forest fires that are quite common in Portugal during the summer rarely, if ever, reach the Algarve.
At certain points on the Algarve coast, east of Faro, there is a veritable mudflat, which floods at high tide. At high tide, the water is deep enough to sail in.
It is 1 hour earlier in Portugal than in the Netherlands.
Portuguese cuisine:
Portuguese cuisine is somewhat similar to Spanish cuisine. The most famous sweet dish from Portugal is Pastel de Belém, this is a kind of pastry with pudding and you really have to try it! Many fish and shellfish can be found in Portuguese cuisine.
Language:
The vast majority of the population speaks Portuguese, including several dialects. Portuguese is a Roman world language and outside of Portugal it is also spoken in Brazil, Angola, Guinea-Bissau, Sao Tomé and Principe, East Timor, Cape Verde, Mozambique, and other areas such as Goa and Malacca (Cristao). It is also spoken by a minority in Macau, where it is an official language.
Currency:
Portugal is part of the European Union and you can also pay with the Euro here.
Almost all cards for debit cards are accepted. Credit cards are also accepted.
Climate:
Although located on the Atlantic Ocean, Tavira has a Mediterranean climate. This means that summers are hot and dry and winters are mild and wet. Most rain falls from November through March. Summers it rarely rains, and when it does, it never lasts long.
