Ada Bojana
Destination: Ada Bojana
Travel time (from): 5 days
Ada Bojana is a peninsula in Montenegro. There are three airports you can fly to get there, namely the capital Podgorica and Tivat in Montenegro and Tirana in Albania. Ada means river island in Montenegrin. The island was created by a river delta in the Bojana River.
Ada Bojana is located directly by the sea in Montenegro.
The nearest airport is Podgorica in Montenegro, about 1 hour and 40 minutes away. Tivat is also a possible approach port in Montenegro (about a 2-hour drive) to visit this hotel. A third option is to fly to Tirana in Albania, get a rental car there and drive about 2.5 hours.
We will be checking out the hotel ourselves from June 8-11, 2024. It has been around since 1973 and recently had some renovation, which is why we want to see it, because it was known as a very simple hotel. It is located on the 3-kilometer-long nude beach, on the Ada Bojana peninsula, which has about 4.8 km2. The island was created in an unusual way. According to a legend, the ship “Merito” sank at the mouth of the Bojana River in the 19th century. Since it was not possible to agree on how the ship would be pulled from the sea, the ship remained “captured” forever. The wreck gradually became covered with sand, creating an island. Along the Bojana River you will find an array of authentic fishermen’s cottages and atmospheric restaurants serving traditionally caught fish.
Ada Bojana is particularly suitable for peace seekers and nature lovers. Because of its location, it sometimes has spectacular sunsets.
Ada Bojana has three types of accommodations: Bungalow type A (180 rooms, some of them renovated), type B (46 rooms) and type L (70 rooms), some of them also renovated. For sea view rooms, you pay 10% extra. There is also a naturist campsite.
