Car:
Le Colombier is approximately 909 km from Utrecht.
A car (or rental car) is a good way to travel around France and useful if you want to visit slightly remote places. The roads in France are of good quality. On the highways it is regularly indicated where the nearest petrol stations / restaurant, picnic areas are. Keep in mind that you have to pay toll on the French motorways. You can pay by credit card or cash at the toll gates.

You also need to be in possession of International Insurance Certificates or the green card if you are going with your own car. In France it is mandatory to have an alcohol tester in the car.

A Dutch driving license is sufficient, so an international driving license is not necessary.

It is of course always possible to go to Le Colombier with your own transport.

Language:
The official language in France is French. Each region speaks its own dialect. In the tourist area you can go as a tourist with English.

Currency :
Just like in the Netherlands, people in France pay with the Euro. You can go to most banks with credit cards and Traveler’s checks. With a Dutch bank or giro debit card which has a maestro or cirrus sign, you can go to the ATMs. American Express, Diners Club, Visa, Master and Eurocard cards are accepted in almost all restaurants, shops and petrol stations.

Climate:
The summer climate in the Vendée is a moderate maritime climate: lots of sun, nice and warm and little rain. Winters are often shorter than in the Netherlands, but it can freeze and occasionally snow can be found.

Since 2017, Internatuur has been organizing a Youth Vacation, a vacation made possible for and by young people.

The past four years have been at Le Colombier, but it’s time for something different.

Internatuur and the youth are looking for new youth every year to help make this vacation possible. If you would like to be on the vacation committee, please email jongerenvakanties@internatuur.nl for the attention of Christy-Anne.

Following the survey, some questions came in. Herewith the answers to the most frequently asked questions:

Since 2017, Internatuur has organized the annual youth trip. NFN Open & Bare is the main sponsor of this trip. In the past, NFN organized this trip itself, but because only an official travel agency can insure group travel, since 2017 the organization has been in the professional hands of travel agency Internatuur. The youth trip is designed for young people aged 18 to 27 and is always organized in cooperation with the young people themselves.

An online evaluation was conducted at the end of December to determine whether the trip still met the needs of young people. There were many great, new ideas and many enthusiastic responses, but also some questions. We would like to answer these questions. We will return to the survey results at a later date.

What is the relationship between the JNVN and youth vacations?
The JNVN is a naturist association especially for a by young people, which has been in existence since 2022.

The relationship between JNVN and the youth vacation is that many young people who went along with the Internatuur youth vacation in previous years have become members of JNVN. This past year, a number of young people from this association again volunteered to help organize the Internatuur youth vacation.

Why isn’t JNVN working with Internatuur?
It was certainly the intention to cooperate with the JNVN. The JNVN board was also asked if the JNVN would “supply” young people to help organize the youth vacation. In response, the JNVN board made it a condition that they wanted the sole right to organize the vacation and that only “their” members would have access. In addition, they wanted to officially become an organizational cooperation partner. Internatuur and NFN believe that the trip should be available to all young people, i.e., those who are direct members of NFN as well as any naturist association affiliated with NFN. In addition, Internatuur and NFN want other young NFN members to have the opportunity to help organize this fun vacation. The JNVN board then decided it did not want to “supply” young people for the organization. Of course, we find that particularly unfortunate.

Who is organizing the vacation now?
Internatuur, as in all previous years, continues to organize the vacation and is responsible as a travel agent. NFN helps with things like e.g. promotion in the magazines and newsletters and by sponsoring the vacation. A number of young people are currently being sought to help in the organization. How is Internatuur’s youth trip coming along?
The youth trip, of course, will continue as usual. NFN will also certainly remain involved as a main sponsor. The trip may look slightly different, depending on the results of the youth survey itself. One thing is for sure; it will be great fun again!
