Aphrodite Village is about 1320 km from Utrecht.

A car (or rental car) is a good way to travel around France and convenient if you want to visit slightly remote places. The roads in France are of good quality. On the highways it is regularly indicated where the nearest gas stations/restaurant, picnic areas are. Please keep in mind that you have to pay tolls on French highways. At the toll booths, you can pay by credit card or cash.

Furthermore, you must be in possession of International Certificates of Insurance or green card if you are going with your own car. In France, it is mandatory to have an alcohol tester in the car.

A Dutch driver’s license is sufficient, so an international driver’s license is not necessary.

Language:
The official language in France is French. Each region does speak its own dialect. In the tourist area, tourists can use English.

Currency:
As in the Netherlands, people in France pay with the Euro. At most banks you can use credit cards and Traveller’s cheques. With a Dutch bank or giro debit card that displays a maestro or cirrus sign, you can use ATMs. American Express, Diners Club, Via, Master and Eurocard cards are accepted in almost all restaurants, stores and gas stations.

Climate:
The Mediterranean climate is characterized by hot summers and mild winters. This is because the warm sea water after summer tempers the worst cold. This is also a sunny region in the summer with more than 2,000 hours of sunshine per year. On the Mediterranean coast in the summer months the weather is lovely. The temperature rises steadily from May to well above 20 degrees Celsius. On this part of the French coast, however, the wind can also be quite strong and there may be occasional showers.
