Oyster Pond Marina (the former Captain Olivers resort) is also within walking distance from the residence.

There you can board a private or group charter on a luxury sailing or motor boat.

Coralita beach is about a 3-minute walk and Dawn beach which has several hotels and restaurants is a 5-minute drive away.

The capital of Dutch Sint Maarten Philipsburg is a 12-minute drive away. There you will find the duty-free stores.

Orient Bay beach (regularly listed in the top 15 of the world’s best beaches) is a 15-minute drive from the residence.

Part of this beach is the island’s official nude beach. Some other beaches also tolerate nudism such as Cupecoy and Happy Bay. On all beaches Dutch and French side topless sunbathing and bathing is allowed.

st. St. Martin/Sint Maarten is known as the “gourmet capital” of the Caribbean. More than 80 different nationalities live peacefully on this small island. This melting pot of nationalities has created a wide range of gourmet restaurants. There are eateries and food stands for every budget and with dishes from around the world. No fewer than 5 restaurants are a 5-minute walk or drive from KAZANU.

Grand Case (French side) known for its many restaurants and Simpson Bay (Dutch side) known for its nightlife are 20 minutes from KAZANU in opposite directions.

Plane:
To St. Maarten is flown directly by KLM from Amsterdam on Sundays and Fridays. KLM has the option of flying economy class or business class. The direct flight takes about 8 hours and 40 minutes.

st. St. Maarten is the largest island of the Windward Islands but consists of 2 parts; the Dutch part approx. 34 km2 in size and the French part of approx. 65 km2 in size. The border between the French and Dutch sections is marked with welcome signs.
On this island, 2 peoples with very different characteristics, laws and customs live side by side.

Jardin d’Ô is located in the French section.

Time difference:
It is 5 hours earlier on St. Maarten than in the Netherlands; when we have daylight saving time it is 6 hours.

Language:
The language of communication on the island is English. On the French part, French is still spoken but with a Caribbean accent. Dutch is hardly spoken anymore.

Currency:
The Antillean guilder is the official currency of the island, it can also be paid with the U.S. dollar, credit card such as visa or mastercard. On the French part, the Euro is also accepted as a means of payment. Withdrawing money; using a debit or credit card is possible at most banks.

Climate:
In the Windward Islands, the weather is actually always nice. The sun always shines, the average temperature is 27 ºC, and a constant trade wind blows. Average precipitation is 1,000 millimeters per year. A rainstorm lasts a short time, but is usually intense. On the Atlantic side, the waves are rougher and the winds are stronger than on the Caribbean side. In July and August, it can be oppressively hot. The water averages about 26 ºC. The hurricane season is from June 1 to November 1.
